Hi to all !
Been here -*test*-('")ing this wonderfull software of mobilnova, using other softwares to make the converted movie, and reading with mobilnova player... Also just buyed the software !! My ideas are :
Output conversion must be more optionality, giving the chance to the user to select the video ouput options, like size, bitrate, frames, codec ( MPG1, MPEG2, divx, mjpeg, and so on ! ) The player that mobilnova uses in tomtom can read manny formats ! In my -*test*-('")s i saw that a mpg1 movie of 1gb ( 120minutes movie ) with a bitrate 1246, frames 25/second ( pal ), with 480x272, was working perfect in the TomTom, with a good quality movie and sound... Even losing some frames during the movie the result was perfect ! Mobilnova must desactivate all software in tomtom when reading movie, freeing the memory as more as possible, and also the video board... Im not familiar with the electronics inside of TOMTOM, i have tomtom 910 only for almost one month... But i know that is possible to increase electronic the memory, and even its possible to make a overclocking to the processor... So manny steps will be donne from now ! Manny persons will improve and also Mobilnova will improve... TomTOm910 is working with a 20gbs ( +- ) memory disk, as we know its possible to increase this too !!! One thing my good friends i tell you all, in a few days when my WORK gives me more time, my tomtom will be open and study component by component... Some upgrades will make it faster and no frames will be lost !!
Congrats to all persons that are working around tomtom gps, mobilnova, and readers !
Paulo Lobo in Portugal.
PS ( The slower a conversion of a movie is made, the quality will improve more ! )
No frames are lost for 910 convertion. It can do all without changing. Out options are too difficult for some users, we do not plan to add more options. If you know so much about bitrate, framerate, etc. you probably use an external sw package to convert the videos
Yes, i use other software to make the conversion, when i say lost frames is in the reading, inside the tomtom with the player !! But im talking about giving more quality it ask more speed more memory ( video and funcion mem ), for the slowest conversion i first use a software converting dvd to mpg file, or even avi file, any soft can do that, not necessary any more special, i get in this step a movie with more or less 10 gbs ( MPG or AVI ) with a full screen 720x576, this is to get the best quality, in the source... Then i use TMPGENCONDER in the slowest conversion to get a mpg1 480x272 file, with a bitrate 1246... Im going to post a small movie somewhere and i will post it here to people -*test*-('") in the tomtom !

I will not argue with the tatses, but as for me, viseo size is enormous in this case...
Size of the file will be :
1gb more or less for 120minutes movie...
Why dont you give the option bitrate in the converter software a little more
bitrate.. not only 420 but 512 or 750 !
We made a lot of experiments and found out that total stream bitrate should be around 480kbit/s for GO910, CPU can not handle more, there will be a lot of frame drops
i've made the video in the tomtom converter, and added a 160kbps mp3 stereo track to the movilefile, but it won't play.
Is this because of the cpu limitation or is the player in the media center just programmed to play mono mp3s?
In theory player should be able to handle stereo but we never tried this. Most probably, you screwed up with the video. Please look for your other thread for more explanation
